2011 Teen Summer Reading Program
“You Are Here” Artwork Contest & Rules
North Kansas City Public Library and High School Media Center will accept submissions between Monday, June 6, 2011 and Friday, August 12, 2011. No entries will be accepted after that date. The winning design will be showcased by the NKC Public Library and High School Media Center through various media.
What Types of Artwork Are Eligible:
· The summer reading slogan “You Are Here” must be a part of the design.
· Designs must be the original work of the entrant
· Designs should be in color. Creativity highly encouraged!
· Computer generated images may be used, but all components must be completely original. You may not use copied images.
· Limit two (2) entries per contestant.
· All submissions must be emailed to Abby Yellman, ayellman@nkcsd.k12.mo.us
What are the Awards?
Prizes will be awarded for First Place, Second Place and Honorable Mention.
Artwork will be showcased on the high school media center web site, summer reading blog and Facebook page.
- First Prize: Barnes and Noble Nook (retail $150)
- Second Prize: Copy of Decoded by Jay-Z and a $10 gas card to QT
- Third Prize: Copy of Decoded by Jay-Z
How will Awards be Determined:
Entries will be judged by a panel of librarians, library staff, school administration and school/community members. Judging will take place the end of August 2011 and awards announced Monday, September 5, 2011. Decision of the judges is final.
Who Can Enter?
Eligibility is limited to amateur artists ages 12-18 at time of submission. Entrants and/or their guardians must have a valid North Kansas City Public Library Card or be a student in North Kansas City School District.
Are there Different Entry and Prize Categories by Age?
No. All entrants must be ages 12-18 at the time of submission.
How Many Designs Can I Submit?
Up to two (2) designs may be submitted by a single individual during the contest period.
How Must Designs Be Submitted?
All designs must be submitted electronically as an attachment to Abby Yellman, ayellman@nkcsd.k12.mo.us. Submissions must be received via email by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011.
· All submissions must be electronic and emailed to Mrs. Yellman
· Receipt of entries will be acknowledged
· Each entry must include a completed entry form, attached to the submission email. (click on entry form below to print or email Mrs. Yellman for a copy)
· All email submissions equal acceptance of contest rules.
Copyright?
By submitting artwork, the participant agrees to give North Kansas City Public Library and High School Media Center permission to display and use the submitted artwork in print and online media (Facebook, online web sites, etc.)
Award Notification:
Winners will be notified via email or phone. Winners must come to the library to pick up their award. Awards must be picked up no later than September 30, 2011.
